Is the AWS certification worth it for a career switch?

You have probably heard that an AWS certification can open doors in cloud computing, but you may wonder if it is enough on its own. The short answer is that it helps a lot, but it does not replace hands-on practice.

The entry level Cloud Practitioner is cheap and fast to get. It proves you understand the vocabulary of cloud, which matters in interviews and on teams that already use AWS.

The real payoff comes at the associate level, like Solutions Architect. That exam forces you to actually build and reason about cloud systems, and recruiters treat it as a serious signal.

Pair the certification with a small personal project on the free tier. Deploy a website, store files in S3, or wire up a database. The cert opens the door, but the project is what gets you hired.
